The World as a Garden – the Art of Social Change!
Last night something remarkable took place in Ytterjärna, Sweden. Nine girls from YIP danced an hour long dance performance, which they had designed themselves with their choreographer Ediane de Lima. The most remarkable factor though, was that they only started dancing at the beginning of YIP, in August 2009.
Amateurs + Inspiration + Persistence = Professional.
I had the honour to design the scene and lights, and I must say that has been a real privilege! I could contribute 6 years of lighting experience, and all my love and passion for these lovely friends!
Dancing Social Entrepreneurs
Sometimes a social entrepreneur is a dancer on the stage. A flower in the garden. A friend with stage fright. The ability the make the impossible possible, to challenge yourself beyond your limits, and to show the world 150 hours of dedicated passion and inspiring commitment.
My two worlds of passion came together, the performing arts and social change! It is actually one thing.
The World as a Garden:
The performance is a celebration of life and its diversity. Diversity is essential to life and it is in diversity that we find enormous potential for creativity.
The world is a garden and you and we as flowers create it together, intimately connected and supported by our differences.
